Paxil has been trusted by a lot o people because it is one of the leading antidepressants in the market. GlaxoSmithKline has introduced Paxil in the year 1992 and due to the increasing population. The massive advertisements of antidepressants not only on TV but also in the Internet can also make it alluring to some. Information can be available at the click of the mouse when using the Internet thus making it popular for use. Most people would even go to the extent of diagnosing themselves by looking up the symptoms that they are experiencing. It may also be a way of reaching out to patients as said by a doctor with regards to using the Internet. As technology expands, diagnosing depression by means of the Internet is now a being considered by two doctors who have conducted a study about it.

The study says that most people prefer to do it online then go to a doctor for consultation. Diagnosis of depression is usually done through answering questionnaires after a consultation. After diagnosis of the doctor, then they could prescribe a medicine to address the problem. Paxil does help in minimizing the symptoms of depression but it also made people file charges against GlaxoSmithKline. There are different cases that are presented in the court in which the complainants claim that they weren’t notified of the serious side effects that are associated in using Paxil. Paxil users may experiences less serious to severe side effects. The core rationale why people are filing charges is that they have experienced severe side effects when they used Paxil. Using Paxil when they were pregnant made other women’s babies develop heart defects.

Using Paxil during the first trimester has higher chances of babies having heart and lung defect according to studies. Common problems found are to be heart defects specifically Ventricular and Atrial Septal defect. These defects are characterized by a hole in the wall of the lower chamber of the heart. At times the hole will close by itself, but some cases are required to be surgically closed because it could endanger the life of the baby. GlaxoSmithKline is receiving Paxil lawsuit from parents of babies with birth defects to be able to take care of their baby.
